Yoga Clothes Should Be Absorbent And Comfortable

Yoga is an intricate system of exercises which with regular practice can cure a number of ailments without any other medicine. The yoga guru usually diagnoses your problem by listening to your pulse. The speed of the pulse and the way it beats can accurately tell the yoga guru what ailment is bothering you.

Accordingly, the guru will teach you the ‘asanas’ that are needed to alleviate and hopefully eliminate the health problems. Once you know the techniques, you can practice at home until all the symptoms disappear.

Some Guidelines on the Basic Requirements for yoga clothes

The most popular outfit used for yoga is actually made of cotton. This is because the material allows the body to breath during the exercise, it stays cool and it is very comfortable overall. In fact, yoga, as it is practiced in its host country, India, does not have any “uniform”. The karate-type clothes that are today known as yoga clothes have originated in the U.S.

The three types of pants available are knee-length yoga pants, full-length pants and shorts.  Frankly speaking, it really does not matter what you wear; but it definitely matters that it should feel comfortable.

Similarly, the yoga top is also fashioned on the same principles. The fabric should allow you to perform all the asanas that the yoga guru explains and asks you to do. If you can do one or two difficult ones, you will be able to do them all.  Women are advised to wear a sports bra for added comfort.

There are other parts in the repertoire of yoga clothes such as yoga shoes, but that is kind of an oxymoron, because some instructors recommended yoga to be done barefoot. However, this is not readily accepted in the U.S. and so you are bound to see Americans wear sports shoes when doing yoga. When you do in fact choose to wear shoes, opt for ones that are extremely flexible.

To summarize, yoga clothes have to be extremely comfortable and stretchable to the best extent possible. The total ensemble of the yoga clothes consists of a T-shirt, cotton half or full pants, yoga shoes, and sometimes when it is chilly outside, a jacket.

Going for a yoga class should not be equated with fashion and designer clothing as you are taking some time out to escape from worldly demands. Hopefully, the other members in your class will be too absorbed in their own meditation to even notice if your top matches your pants!
